Creative Prompt Postcards
It's always exciting to start out the new year with a clean slate, but sometimes that clean slate can feel a little daunting or even overwhelming. How can you fix that? Well, I happen to have a suggestion.
Here's a little backstory first.
When I wanted to start making art again, at first I didn’t know what to do. It seemed like a lot at the time because I had a toddler and I was pregnant, but I also desperately needed some more art in my life. I started by doing something creative for 15 minutes everyday. I realized that you can actually do a lot in 15 minutes and things grew from there. That idea of 15 minute art has been stuck in the back of my head for a while. What was it about those 15 minute art projects that I can't stop thinking about them? They weren't great but it was the fact that I started something and that's what I wanted other to realize. You can do something even if it is small.
Then this last month the lightbulb went on. Send out daily 15 minute prompts on postcards!
Except coming up with 365 prompts is tricky, also sometimes we want breaks on the weekends, and let’s be honest, I couldn’t keep up with 15 minutes a day every day after a while. So, long story long, I decided on 10 prompts per postcard, one postcard for each month, which totals 120 prompts per year.
And, AND, I loved the idea of postcards for several reasons.
1. Who doesn’t love fun mail every once in a while? I’ve always been a postcard fan, I have stacks of them from others and for myself and I love sending them.
2. It’s also an affordable way to actually share my art! Small pieces, yes but you get 12 of them to start off your collection. Twelve 5.5 x 4.25 postcards for $20.00.
3. Lastly, it’s sharing inspiration for you to make your own art, which sometimes is what I think people actually want when they buy art. Inspiration to create something on your own!
Like a subscription, these postcards will be mailed out to you one at a time starting the month you purchase them and will continue to be delivered monthly until you have 12 postcards total.
You can get them for yourself, or an artsy friend, whoever you think might like a little inspiration to create for 15 minutes every day. While a lot of the prompts are drawing or painting related there are also photo prompts, writing prompts, and video prompts because most of us have phones anyway.
I honestly didn't know if I would be able to pull this off in time for the new year, but thankfully I did and I'm very excited to share this with others.
I like thinking that the real purpose of art is to inspire each other to be our best creative selves. This seems like a fun and simple way to do that.
Now that you have the whole story - go check them out over on my shop page! I hope you enjoy them and I'd love to hear what you think about them!

Oh Hey! it's me, Amy
These are stories about my art, experiences I've had in my career, and some other fun stuff too. I will probably overshare, I can't help it when I'm writing. Get cozy, these are great rainy day reads!
