Why do you need custom art pieces for your home? Why do you want them? Maybe this isn't something you have thought about before. Or maybe it is. Either way, here are some great reasons that having an original work of art in your home can be valuable. Looking at great art is inspiring! If a piece resonates with you and makes you feel ambition to do anything, that is a piece worth having! Sometimes the pieces remind you of a feeling or place, sometimes you might resonate with the story behind the art piece. Whatever the reason, we should all be surrounded by things that make us want to live our best lives. Artist's aren't the only people looking for inspiration. Wether you are an artist or not, any inspiration is valuable. A focal point to talk about. I have several large pieces of artwork in my home and almost every time someone new comes over they ask about the pieces. Typically when you buy a piece of art there is a story with that piece that is worth talking about. It might be the quality of lighting in the picture, the location, the story that the artist gave you about the piece-whatever! Artwork is like a library for your walls, and you can invite anyone in your home to read those stories and share your them with others. I've even heard of friends purchasing an art piece together and that artwork is hung in each person's home for a certain amount of time. I love this idea! You really could share it like a good book if you wanted to! Great art elevates your space. My current house is very small but what I love about the large pieces of art that I have here is that they make each room feel elevated. You don't have to have a fancy mansion with a built in gallery to hold your art, you can make it apart of wherever you are. Owning works of art shows that you care about the quality of your life and the things that you invite into it. Happiness is found in looking at beautiful things. It's true! There are so many studies out there that talk about the correlation between happiness and beauty. Why do you think so many people feel better after spending time outside? Mother nature is the most beautiful thing there is, (in my opinion). Surround yourself with beautiful things, sculptures, paintings, fabrics - they will fill you with happiness.
Art holds its value. Although I'm not in it for the money there are people who buy and collect art as a way to invest. They keep pieces for years and if the art/artist is really good, these pieces will hold their value and then some. If this is intriguing to you I say research how to make this work for you and start adding diversity to your art collection. At the end of the day, if you have a personal response to a piece of art in any way, that is a good reason to bring it home. If it makes you take a second look, if it makes you feel something and every time you see it you are filled with joy, then what is stopping you? There are artists who I'm looking forward to purchasing their pieces one day because they create work that resonates with me. I can never have too much art in my life!
